ILI Board Member Sue Meyers honored by Coachella Valley Rescue Mission
Since 1971, the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission has been a place where lives are restored, hope is renewed, and new beginnings are made possible for men, women, and children in our community.
The Mission first began its work on the very site where we are now building our second New Life Resale Boutique. It was there that thousands received meals, shelter, prayer, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives. Today, we have the privilege of returning to that historic location with a new purpose. The New Life Resale Boutique will serve our community while providing vital financial support for the Mission’s programs. Every purchase made in the store helps provide meals, safe shelter, recovery programs, and long-term support for individuals rebuilding their lives.
As we move forward with this project, our Board of Directors believes it is fitting to honor two women whose remarkable lives of leadership shaped the Mission for more than two decades. Darla Burkett and Sue Meyers served the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission with dedication, compassion, and steadfast faith. They guided the Mission through seasons of growth while ensuring the focus always remained on restoring lives through the love of Christ.
In recognition of their faithful service, we will dedicate the new Resale Boutique building in honor of Darla and Sue. The store will continue to operate under the name “New Life,” while the building will serve as a permanent tribute to their legacy of service and impact. This project honors the past, celebrates remarkable lives of leadership, and helps secure the future of the Mission’s life-changing work.
